Australians Corser, Baylis dominate first Superbikes practice

Locals Troy Corser and Troy Bayliss dominated the first practice session Friday for Sunday’s two Australian races of the Superbikes world championship.
The Australian pair, who have 11 Superbikes wins at Phillip Island between them, finished 1-2 in the 60-minute qualifying session.

MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner continued playing mind games with Valentino Rossi on Thursday, saying Dani Pedrosa would be his main rival this season.
Ducati’s Stoner, who won the 28th Australian Sport Awards on Wednesday, claimed the 2007 Moto GP title ahead of second-placed Spaniard Pedrosa on a Honda and Yamaha’s Rossi.

World champion Casey Stoner said Friday his injured shoulder is improving and he is ready for serious training to defend his world MotoGP title this year.
The 22-year-old Ducati rider injured his right shoulder ligaments at the end of November, and although he did not undergo surgery he needed a long rest period to recover.
